The Czech Nonet is one of the oldest and most original chamber ensembles in the world. It was founded in 1924 by a group of students at the Prague Conservatory according to instrumental require ments of Louis Spohr’s Nonet (violin, viola, violoncello, contrabass and wind quintet). “The Czech Nonet played superlatively, with great brilliance and freshness, truly in virtuoso form.” Lidova Demokracie
“What stunning playing by Richard Ormrod. It displayed a remarkable
unity between that unmistakable Russian technical discipline
and an equally recognisable individual touch of sheer brilliance
. . .”
